HE MAN and the MASTERS of the UNIVERSE

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe originated as an action figure collection from Mattel. The line was selling so well, Mattel asked the Filmation company to broaden the toy advertisements into a fully-animated series.

It has been rumored that Conan the Barbarian was a source of inspiration for the He-Man character. All of the original action figures came with minicomics that told stories involving the characters.

The action figures themselves were often repaints of similar body molds, and head-swaps of existing characters, outfitted with different equipment.
